The 2005 Award for Innovative Developments in the Reduction of Unburned Carbon on Fly Ash

The 2005 Award for Innovative Developments in Reduction of Unburned Carbon on Fly Ash was presented by the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) of the United States Department of Energy at the 2005 Conference on Unburned Carbon on Utility Fly Ash, which was a part of the World of Coal Ash conference.

The winner of the 2005 Award was Dr. Mercedes Maroto-Valer, School of Chemical Environmental and Mining Engineering, University of Nottingham, Nottingham, England for her contributions to the separation, characterization, development of microporous carbon and commercialization of the carbon types present in fly ash as a precursor for high value materials. Congratulations, Dr. Maroto-Valer!

The winner of the 2004 Award was Joseph W. Cochran, Vice-President, Engineering and Development, Progress Materials, St. Petersburg, Florida.

This award is presented annually and consists of a plaque honoring the awardee for his or her contributions to advancing the subject of unburned carbon on fly ash. This is the second year of the award and the tenth year of the Unburned Carbon Conference. The nominee must have presented his or her work at any of the past Conferences on Unburned Carbon on Utility Fly Ash.
