The University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research and the American Coal Ash Association came together once again May 7-10th to hold one of the world's largest and most successful meetings devoted to coal combustion (by) products. The meeting, held in Covington, Kentucky's convention center, boasted 530 attendees from more than 20 countries.
Once the conference began, it became clear that in addition to attending the individual presentations, attendees were interested in networking with old and new friends. The 44 exhibits were a popular meeting place, where both commercial and nonprofit exhibitors had opportunities to discuss who and what they represented.
The staff members of both ACAA and CAER who served as conference planners attempted to make the meeting both educational and fun. Judging by the groups that took half an hour to realize that the riverboat cruise was over and had docked, we must have succeeded.
