Submit an Abstract

To apply for a presentation at the WOCA 2009 Conference, you must
SUBMIT an ABSTRACT

Submit an Abstract in Acrobat (.pdf) format
- Do not activate security.
- If Acrobat format is not an option, Word or WordPerfect may be submitted.

Please follow the below formatting instructions. If abstract does not meet the below standards, it will be rejected and sent back to the author for corrections.

Abstract Formatting Instructions:
8.5" x 11" for page size
- WordPerfect: File / Page Setup / Size / Letter 8.5" x 11" inches
- Word: File / Page Setup / Paper Size / Letter "8 ½ x 11" inches
Margins - all margins on all pages 1 inch
Font - Helvetica or Arial preferred
Font Color (including headers) - Black
Line Spacing - 1.0
No page number, header, or footer
Title - 20 point bold
Authors - 14 point bold; list primary author first, followed by other authors; use superscript numbers to identify organization/address
Organizations - 12 point; use appropriate superscript number followed by name/address of organization
Keywords - 12 point
Abstract - 12 point; 250 words maximum
Fill in the "document properties" information*
In a separate paragraph below the abstract, please place the following text: Submitted for consideration in the World of Coal Ash 2009 Conference, held May 4-7, 2009.

What you Need to Know:

No more than 2 abstracts may be submitted per each author.
If accepted, this abstract will be published on the conference web site and in the attendee abstract booklet.
If abstract is accepted, a paper will be expected for publication in the conference proceedings.
A presentation MUST BE MADE at WOCA 2009 in order for the paper to be published in the proceedings.
Paper (oral) and Poster Awards are available; in addition, new STUDENT Oral/Poster award categories have been made available.

*How to Fill in the Document Properties section of a Word and/or PDF document:

Improve the "Google" ranking of your paper by filling in the Document Properties information within your PDF Abstract.

Acrobat (PDF):
Open Abstract within Acrobat program
File / Document Properties
Select the "Description" tab
Place the title in the "Title Field" box
Place ALL of the authors in the "Author Field" box
Place keywords (minimum of 5) in the "Keyword Field" box
Click "okay" button
Save the file

Word (DOC):
Open Abstract within Word program
File / Properties
Select the "Summary" tab
Place the title in the "Title Field" box
Place ALL of the authors in the "Author Field" box
Place keywords (minimum of 5) in the "Keyword Field" box
Click "ok" button
Save the file

The abstract deadline is October 13, 2008.

All interested authors must submit an abstract to be reviewed by the WOCA Technical Program Committee for possible oral or poster presentation at the WOCA 2009 Conference.

Abstracts must be received by October 13, 2008.
Authors will be notified, via email, December 1, 2008 of the final selection decision.
At that time, we will begin accepting paper submissions for the WOCA proceedings.
